Taiwan Photo Collection
10 minutes
Over the span of close to 2 weeks in Taiwan, I took over 60GB worth of photos and videos. This post is a curated list of photos which I thought were interesting and worth sharing. Naturally, I couldn’t include everything in here even as I wished to. (And I probably missed a few along the way) These photos are all unedited and were taken on a Sony ZV-E10. They are listed in accordance with the timestamp.
Sunset casting into the cabin of our Scoot flight. 🧳
Taichung Trunk Bus at 台中 train terminal. 🚌
Train attendant on a train in Taichung. In this case the train attendant was helping a commuter who is on a wheelchair get off the train.
Train carriage on the Taiwan Railway. The Taiwan Railway runs the span of the entire Taiwan and provides a convenient mode of transport from one city to another. 🚆
Train leaving 清水 station.
The temples are extremely busy on 初一 as people flock to get blessings for the new year.
The intricate designs on the temples are always amazing and show the craftsmanship of the craftsmen hundreds of years ago. In fact this particular temple has over 300 years of history. 😱
Tree brunch on 牛罵頭山. An amazing place that overlooks 清水區.
Transmission towers are common sights on the highlands of Taiwan.
Plants swaying in the wind. A very beautiful sight. 🌈
Wind turbines at 高美濕地. Wind turbines line the coast of Taiwan given that Taiwan experiences strong winds throughout the year. 🌬️
Ironman plays the guitar 🤣. Not something that you normally see.
The sunset at 高美濕地 is some of the nicest with the wind turbines in the background.
As the sun inches closer to the horizon, a familiar crimson hue appears. 🌅
No eating signs on the bus. This particular bus goes from 台中 to 日月潭.
Taiwan flag. The store sells boat tickets for 日月潭.
Fried mochi. These sort of pop up stores can be found on almost every street.
Motorcycles are really popular in Taiwan and even the crowded streets can’t stop them from driving around. 🛵
Balloon. Pikachu.
It is normal to find huge crowds along the streets especially when there’s food nearby.
Stone sculpture. 🪨
I got stung for this photo. 🐝
Cable car overlooking 日月潭. The queue’s efficient and the ride’s long. 🚡
Boats with mountains in the background. The boats give you a nice tour around 3 spots at 日月潭. The captain also narrates various facts along the way.
Repetition of the balconies of one of the hotels that lines the banks of 日月潭.
The scenery is breathtaking and definitely nicer than any painting can depict it. 🏞️
One of the tea shops at 日月潭.
Night buskers singing near 台中火車站. There’s also usually homeless people sleeping on the floor at the train station.
Sculpture at 台中火車站.
Building near 台中火車站.
Thought this was quite nice as my camera fails to get into focus.
Floors of a shopping mall. The 百貨 in Taiwan is so much more bigger compared to Singapore. It literally has everything that you would need. It even has basketball courts and baseball courts in it!
Claw machines are really popular in Taiwan. Are they really that easy to play? 🤔
Pass by any convenient stall and you would probably see this. No matter young or old, there’s always someone crowding around to play Pokémon.
It is after all CNY. What’s CNY without lanterns? Most stalls will usually decorate their place with lanterns. 🏮
Photo I took from within a tea shop. Tea culture is also quite popular and most drink stalls have some form of tea sold. 🍵
Go to any night market and they most likely sell these sweet strawberries which are locally grown. Try not to eat too much. 🍓
A coin machine, more examples of how much Taiwanese enjoy arcade games.
I saw a mirror.
You’d probably think of night markets when you hear of Taiwan. They are literally everywhere and offer lots of food and entertainment.
臭豆腐, a must eat at the night market.
Don’t worry because you can always find your dose of fries if you ever crave them. 🍟
Thought the blue looks nice in this photo.
The bus stop button. It comes in different shapes and sizes so look out for them when you get onto the bus.
🐦
Was lucky that it’s close to cherry blossom season in Taiwan and saw many blossoms along the roads. The cherry blossom season is usually around February in Taiwan. 🌸
白陽聖廟 with trees in the foreground.
Unfortunately I didn’t capture the blossoms in this image but it’s still quite nice.
Crack in the road.
A small flower growing out from the undergrowth. 🌱
Rock at the entrance of 白陽聖廟.
白陽聖廟 top layers.
Main entrance of 白陽聖廟.
Nice patterns.
Doggy! 🐶
Fan, a common in Chinese culture.
Bridge linking to the 921 earthquake site.
A portion of the running track that was destroyed by the 921 earthquake.
Taipei underground city. These cities can be found linking some MRT stations and provide mainly clothings and shoes.
承恩門, the north gate of an ancient city.
Reading is also really popular in Taiwan and you can find book stores that are crowded with people. Libraries are also common places. Just like in Doraemon, you can find children sitting near the bookshelves reading the books. 📚
幸福堂, where the first brown sugar bubble tea originated. 🧋
Rag and bone collecting cardboards off the streets in Taipei.
More claw machines.
Leaf on the floor. 🍂
Lilypads. (How is there no emoji for this 😶🌫️)
Fireworks and firecrackers are commonplace during CNY and you can constantly hear the booms of one of these. They are also apparently really cheap. 🎆🧨
Temple crowded with people.
Saw this cat lying beside the coffee machine 🐱. People stopped to look at it and not because the stall’s popular. 🙊
More night markets.
豆花 shop. The 豆花’s really smooth but I don’t know why I bought cold instead of hot. 🥶
🏯
捷運 or also know as the MRT. 🚉
The 捷運 is extremely well connected in Taipei. The stations are also extremely well designed and you usually find that you don’t have to walk far to change lines. You can purchase an EasyCard which basically acts as your EZLink. I was told bank cards also work as well but I saw that there were some stations and also buses that don’t offer that function yet.
Do you know what this building is? The locals pronounce 101 as yi ling yi and not yao ling yao.
Apple store at Taipei 101. The logo incorporates a rabbit to commemorate the year of the rabbit.
Children’s drawings on the lanterns.
Happy New Year!

The most common angle which Taipei 101 is taken from. Right where 象山 is.
